Something doesn't add up.

They were going to get to Tahiti with their motor? Not sailing? Where was the fuel going to come from?
When the engine died, they couldn't sail to Tahiti? It's a sailboat.
They said they were freaking out about sharks. Hello? You're in a boat, why would you be concerned about sharks?
Enough food for a year on the boat? Why would you have so much food for a trip to Tahiti? Buy more supplies when you get to Tahiti.
No one was looking for them 5 months after they failed to arrive in Tahiti?

I smell something fishy. Plus they didn't look sunburned, dehydrated. One looked fat as a whale.
Maybe she ate the year's supply of food already.
